Its membership is comprised of adult learners, PLA practitioners, unions, businesses, academic institutions, equity groups, occupational bodies, sectors and non-governmental organizations. CAPLA provides many services to members and the wider PLAR community. Canadian Technology Human Resources Board (CTHRB)

The Canadian Technology and Human Resources Board (CTHRB) is the sector council representing technology stakeholders. The site contains Canadian Technology Standards (a paid subscription is required for access) and a demonstration of PROfile, a system that will offer a Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition feature to assess competencies against industry standards and/or best practices. PROfile will also record the education, experience, training, certification(s) and experiential learning of a user upon completion of the assessment. The site also contains downloadable reports, news and events related to its mandate.

Forum For International Trade Training (FITT)

Manitoba Prior Learning Assessment Network (MPLAN)

MPLAN is a provincial association of individuals and organizations invoved in PLAR or related activities. Our membership includes industry, workplace, education, government and community practitioners. Meetings & workshops are held 6-8 times a year to provide networking and professional development opportunites for members. Very low fees; the best value in the country!

Most meetings take place in Winnipeg, but we are trying videostreaming and other ways to support rural members. MPLAN works closely with CAPLA and is also looking to develop linkages with networks in other parts of the country. See our postings on the Discussion Board of RFL.

Prior Learning and Competency Evaluation and Documentation (PLACED)

PLACED is part of the Gateway for International Professionals in The G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education, Ryerson University. The Gateway provides services to internationally educated professionals seeking employment at appropriate levels.
