We are pleased to announce the call for applications for the 2012 Alan Thomas Fellowship to Promote Civil Society and Voluntary Action.
The Fellowship was first awarded in 2008, and there are now six Fellowship recipients whose research and reflection has made a significant contribution towards strengthening leadership for civil society and promoting greater understanding of the importance of voluntary action. The Fellowship will again be awarded in 2012 to a leader in the NGO/not-for-profit sector who would not normally have access to a sabbatical leave. Valued at a maximum amount of $60,000 for up to one year, the award is intended to allow the recipient, at a transitional moment in his or her career, to make a contribution to the sector, through research and reflection.
In recognition of a shared desire to strengthen and support leadership capacity in the voluntary sector as an essential element in advancing development and positive social change, both locally and internationally, the Carold Institute and Cuso International are now working together to promote our respective Fellowship opportunities. Attached you will find information regarding the Carold Institute’s Alan Thomas Fellowship and Cuso International’s first annual Bob Ward Memorial Fellowship.

Nous sommes heureux d'annoncer l'appel de candidatures 2012 de la Bourse Alan Thomas pour l’avancement du bénévolat et de la société civile.
Depuis la première bourse accordée en 2008, le travail de réflexion et de recherche des six récipiendaires a apporté une contribution marquante au renforcement du leadership dans la société civile et sensibilisé les gens à l'importance de l'action bénévole.
Une fois encore, la Bourse sera décernée en 2012 à une ou un leader du secteur des ONG ou du secteur sans but lucratif qui n'aurait pu profiter autrement d'un congé sabbatique. D'une valeur maximale de 60 000 $ étalés sur une période pouvant aller jusqu'à un an, ce prix permet aux récipiendaires d'apporter une contribution au secteur par la recherche et la réflexion, et ce, à un moment charnière de leur cheminement professionnel.
Vu leur désir commun de renforcer et soutenir le leadership dans le secteur volontaire en tant qu'élément essentiel de l'avancement du développement et du changement social, tant à l'échelle locale qu'internationale, la Fondation Carold et Cuso International ont décidé de faire ensemble la promotion de leurs bourses.
